Local bands booking their own shows:
Whomever sets up the show gets the door (minus staffing cost) and decides the split among bands. If attendence is poor, you will not owe. There are no deposits, booking fees, tickets to sell, or pay-to-play practices. There is a booking form that must be completed before any show is confirmed.
Load-in: 6pm. Doors are locked prior to 6pm. Please don't try to come in early unless you've arranged this in advance for a fee. Bands can load in and park at the side entrance, directly backstage.
Sound check: starts at 7pm if required.
Doors open 8pm.
Shows start at 9pm, can run as late as 1am. The bar stops serving at 1:30am.
To encourage a supportive scene, musicians with a valid membership or private room at Utopia get in free to all shows (except private events).
Get your set recorded:
A professional live recording of your show is available. When this service is utilized, you get two engineers on the night--one crafting the sound your audience hears, while the second engineer concentrates on your live multi-track recording and mixdown afterwards.
We are not talking about a basic board recording (although you are welcome to do that yourself, free). We will do a live multitrack mix, including audience capture, that is worked on before, during and after your show. Requires advance booking. Final mix will be available a week after the show.
Rate: $200 per band/set.
Booking private events:
Utopia Studios is available to rent for all types of events, parties, meetings and receptions. We provide staffing and bar as needed. You may bring in a food caterer if desired.
$20/hour covers up to 20 guests. Add $1/head per hour for more than 20 people.
For live sound system with engineer, add $150 for up to 4 hours.
For a DJ with lounge sound system, add $100 for up to 4 hours.
